Rohini is a popular Indian film actress in south Indian films, notably Malayalam and Tamil films during 1980s and '90s. She started her career in 1976 as a junior artist

Rohini Mariam Idicula, is a well known model who had been crowned the Miss Kerala in 2007. After completing her graduation in law, Rohini focused more on modeling. She had been a part of Delhi Fashion Week and also made her presence in various ramps. As Rohini knows the hardships to be faced while on the field, she gives much preference to work outs which can stay her fit. 5 days work out pattern would add more to her fitness who has build a well toned body with regular exercises and jogging. Rohini experienced the first taste of glory after winning the Miss Kerala 2007 title.
Being selected among the 5 for the final round, Rohini had clinched the title of Miss Kerala adding a feather to the cap of her successful journey. Being a part of various fashion contests, Rohini had build up new concepts and new opportunities from the people she met. Being in the fashion field, Rohini had experienced a conceptual outlook which helped her to strive forward. Rohini had walked through the ramps wearing trend setting costumes designed by Deepika Govind and Rajesh Shetty. Apart from being a regular participant in various fashion shows, Rohini had been a part of Josco Fashion Mantra and also been in the judging panel in various beauty pageants.
Rohini is making her presence on big screen through the upcoming malayalam movie
'Ninneyum Kollum Njaanum Chaakum' which is being directed by debutant N.K Gireesh. Already in the initial stage itself the movie had made waves with the exceptional title. Rohini Mariam Idiculla will share the space along with Sunny Wayne, models Poojitha Ravindran, Sija Rose and fashion photographer Shanny.

A native of Anakapalli, Rohini spent all her childhood in Chennai. With her family already in films, she had little or no choice except to work as an artiste. Looking back the actress says she doesn't mind being here and is thankful to her father for being a great influence on her. No other actress would be as gratified as Rohini is for having worked with the best directors in Malayalam and Tamil cinema. She has been actively involved in Tamil theatre and a part of the neo Tamil literature movement. "I feel sad that I am a zilch in Telugu cinema but I can't help it, I'm geographically exposed to Tamil Nadu, Chennai is the place where the action is. I do read books in Telugu but I am influenced by a lot of Tamil poets and literature and have given over 12 major performances on stage." That's not all the blessed Rohini is also a Tamil lyricist, writes episodes for Tamil serials on television, motivates people to involve in social work. She had advertised and pooled in volunteers to give free tuitions to the orphans and poor kids at home. She even led a movement and pressurized the Chief Minister to ban BT Brinjal in Tamil Nadu and is now advocating organic farming.
Being such a creative person, doesn't the actress find dubbing a monotonous and a drab job? No she says emphatically, she simply loves giving different dimensions, matching the voice to the expressions of the characters. She's a favourite of Gautham Menon, Shankar and Mani Ratnam and had dubbed for Aishwarya Rai for Iruvar, Raavan (Telugu and Tamil) and Bombay. Recalling her association with Mani Ratnam, Rohini says he surprises by pushing her so much that she discovers another area of her personality that she had never explored. Matching Manisha's thin frame, transluscent beauty, timid expressions were a challenge and so was the falling scene of Aishwarya and the scene in which Veera is dying. She quips, "I almost damaged my vocal chords, for one take I screamed 25 times. My voice didn't have to sound good, it had to be real, strong and the pain audible without taking his name." Has Rohini always been like this calm and composed? "No", she grins, she had learnt recently that only when you talk less and you begin to start listening, the communication is effective.
Life hasn't been a bed of roses for Rohini, she found herself in a difficult spot when she was separated from her actor husband but there hasn't been any bitterness. She fights back her tears, "Lot of things go wrong a lot of times, now if I talk all this… I should be able to correct them which is not possible, I'd take the whole blame. He's a nice, lovely person, it's just that things didn't work out..misunderstanding, communication gap..it happens in every relationship, siblings and friends..at the end we were good friends."
